So I wake up this morning and make my groggy way down to the bathroom when all of a sudden I hear a SPLASH. What? I look down to see that the hallway is covered in water. I stood there, goggling at the floor until it hit me that I had on my fluffy slippers...the ones that would be ruined if the got wet. So I hopped out of the puddle I was standing in, returned to my room and put on my Rainbows. I walked back down the hallway, now holding my pajama pants out of harm's way to see if I was hallucinating. Nope, there was the water. Wow. I couldn't understand it. HOW did the hallway get flooded? For those of you who don't know, our bathroom sometimes floods because a certain individual on our floor does not know how to properly use the shower curtain. Frustrating, I assure you. I peeked into the bathroom. The bathroom is compromised of three rooms. The main room has two sinks in it. To the left and the right there are rooms that contain the toilet and the shower. The main room was completely flooded. I could have probably bathed a baby in the amount of water that was covering the floor. The toilet/shower room to the right was also in such a state, whereas the room to the left, the one that practically everyone uses to shower, was just dandy. There's a reason that most of us do not use that right shower: it tends to drain very very slowly and it is never pleasant to shower while standing in bathwater. Someone must have taken some shower. I doubted that the individual who is usually responsible for such floodings was the cause of this one: even she could not inflict such damage. I hurried back to my room and woke my roommate, letting her know what was going on. By this time, the other girls were also waking up cause they kept hearing scurrying outside. One of the girls from the room right across the bathroom let out a shriek when she saw what had happened to her floor. Yes, the water had sneaked into her room and attacked her books. It even managed to make it to the room next to hers, the one that separates her room from mine. Luckily my neighbor's room was not in as bad a state. It was a charming occurrence to wake up to, I promise.
Achren and I rushed downstairs to let maintenance know what had happened and see if they could come up and fix it NOW. When I burst into the front office, explaining that we had an emergency, our room was flooded, and needed to be cleaned NOW, the girl manning the desk looked at my calmly and in a very nonchalant voice asked me to fill out a work order. I stared at her incredulously, wondering if she knew the meaning of the word emergency and had any clue as to how inconvenient it is to have half of one's hallway flooded. Achren, luckily, spoke straight to the guards who called maintenance without a moment's hesitation. The men arrived quickly and saved the day. LOL. The problem was that the shower had been spitting water back out, because the shower underneath it on the 8th floor was clogged too. They assure us that the problem is fixed now. We'll see...
Other than our acquatic adventures, life has been pretty good. Though, I must admit, I cannot wait to come home!! Never thought I'd ever admit sucha thing, did you? Trust me, my eagerness to return to California has caught me by surprise, too. Never before have I ever wanted to leave where I am to go just HOME. Boooo. Hehe. But the weather here is DISGUSTING. I really REALLY don't like humidity. Nor do I like these dorms (this morning's adventure being a good example as to why). I miss California weather, and the beach, and my own comfort. I also am looking very forward to getting back into my own kitchen and cooking up a storm! I fantasize about that daily.
Work is going well. Nothing new to report there.
This past weekend I went up to Boston with Anita. We stayed with Kevin in the Delta Upsilon frat house on Beacon, right near the bridge that leads over to Cambridge (well, one of the bridges, I suppose). The one that hits MIT soonest. Boston is very charming!! I think if it was a choice between going to law school in NYC or Boston, I would choose Boston. I really do like New York, and I think I would enjoy it a lot more when it's cold (and not humid), but I can see myself getting much too easily distracted by this city. There is soooooo much to do!! I'm sure Boston, too, is a busy place, but we can't really deny that it's a big college town. With so many other people studying, it'll motivate me, too.
This upcoming weekend, we (as in the whole group minus Paul, the bastard) are going down to Washington D.C. to party with the Armenian Assembly interns. Fuuuun times. We're leaving tomorrow morning at 7:45. Ohhhh, the pain. Especially considering that we're going out to a club tonight (Plan B) to celebrate Nora's birthday. We were at a club last nigh, too, the Pink Elephant, celebrating Nareg's birthday. It was cool. It wasn't as upscale as I thought it was going to be. When I say upscale, btw, I don't mean high class. I mean a place full of rich (whether old or nouveau) people, dressed to the nines, acting very cool, and believing that they are the hottest things on this planet. There were really too many losers in that place, not gonna lie. I don't mean that in a bad way, but I don't see the Pink Elephant as being the place where the cool, rich, popular and famous go to have a good time, though the club was trying very hard to give off that image. The place we're going to tonight, Plan B, should be a lot more relaxed. I promise I'll post all the recent pictures...as soon as I name all of them. :)
Alright, that's enough for now. You want more details? E-mail me!!
